报告人简介:

生化系学术报告.jpgDr. Kalantry is an embryologist interested in the investigation of the process of X-chromosome inactivation in stem cells derived from embryos and ultimately in embryos themselves. He received both his A.B. and his Ph.D. from Cornell University. After post-doc training from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and University of North Carolina, he established his research laboratory in the University of Michigan in 2009. He is currently the associate chair of the Department of Human Genetics.

Dr. Kalantry’s work in X-inactivation lies at the interface of long non-coding RNAs and chromatin regulators. His studies have been published in journals including Nature, Nature Genetics, Nature Cell Biology, PLoS Genetics, Nature Communications, Cell Reports and PNAS. In this lecture he will present a recent discovery in the lab of an X-inactivation escapee Smcx/Kdm5c, which underlies the female-specific induction of X-inactivation.
