About the Lecture:
Newly-licensed drivers are significantly over-represented in road traffic crashes worldwide. Much of this over-representation is due to inexperience. This presentation will provide background information on novice driver crashes, major risk factors and potential interventions, as well as introduce the China Novice Driver Training Pilot Study. This project aims to develop and evaluate a ‘best-practice’ driver education and training program to reduce novice driver crashes in China. The pilot study, currently underway in Beijing, will increase our understanding of novice drivers and crash risk factors in China as well as demonstrate potential of the program to reduce crashes.
